Why I don't like the snow

Greetings to all! The Christmas holiday has been so lovely with all the beautiful snow that has fallen - but now we have too much ice and as I was opening the store today I slid- fell into the metal pole outside the back door - giving a new meaning to pole dancing - hit my face, broke my glasses and landed on both knees. So missing a lens, I am trying to pull myself together to get through this day. I have always loved Christmas -even with all its extra work its' still fun. I am looking forward to the New Year - hoping it brings peace and joy to all!!!!!! Lets start the New Year off right - Come to the Red Rooster for a fun time on New Years Day. We will be having 25% OFF almost everything in the store. The class room will be set up for your sewing enjoyment. You can bring your own project or make a special pincushion we will have ready for you. Of course there will be some treats to go along with the day. I hope to see alot of you and I am looking forward to a fun day. Please come by and visit. About this time of year we are all ready to start a new project - but the economy just isn't in anyones favor. So I suggest you dig into your stash- maybe come find a new pattern and start some sewing. That always seems to make us quilters feel good. We do have some new books and patterns that will help inspire you. I must get to work, TTFN - Kaye

Happy Holidays

I am falling behind with everything - what a surprise. Christmas is less than 2 weeks away - and so much to do. I haven't kept up on this blog as I had hoped too - and I still don't have all the correct software for the website , so i get pretty discouraged. I apologize for my shortcomings!
What a beautiful snow storm we had this weekend - now it seems like winter. I don't mind the cold but I hate getting around in the snow. I hope you are all enjoying this festive time of year - getting your shopping done and making yummy treats.
I have two wonderful trunk shows currently in the shop - one from a local quilter - Vicki Inman. I met Vick at the Piece by Peace quilt guild- she is a wonderful piercer. I also have the HQNA Winterfest trunk show. These quilts represent the classes being taught at this years retreat, being held in January at Daniels Summit - this event is a first class retreat - I only wish I could go this year. They have a wonderful assortment to choose from and there is still time to register. Please allow yourself time to come and look at the wonderful quilts.
I also have all remaining Christmas fabric, kits and home decor on sale at 20% off - and lots of cute things are left. Maybe pick something fun for yourself and we will wrap it up pretty to go under your tree. I love coming up with the right gift for each person - some personal thought and care going into to each one. Lots of homemade things again this year - lots of fun.
I am off now to machine a quilt - we still have quite a few that are due out this week - so the elves are working overtime. Merry Christmas - Kaye

Happy Monday - There are two important things that I want to share with everyone as you start your holiday shopping. First - I have a Mitten Tree in the shop. To fill it, we need new mittens, hats, socks and scarves. All the items go to Head Start and Sub for Santa. I think this is such a fun and easy project to contribute too and I hope you will too. The tree will be in the shop until December 1 - Please help us fill it up. Next - On Saturday December 6th, there is a Christmas Open House at the home of USU President Albreict, where holiday decor, gifts and treats will be for sale. All proceeds from this annual event go to the Women's Center Scholarship Fund at Utah State University. Many of the items being sold are being donated by quilters from the local quilt guilds here in Cache Valley. So you know there will be lots of wonderful things that you can't live without and you owe it to yourself to visit this fun and worthwhile event. If you have any questions - call the shop and we will try to be of help. Nothing more for today - have a great evening and do some sewing. Kaye

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody -------

Greetings - it's 10 pm on Sat. evening - I left my phone at the shop and had to come and get it - so I here I am in my jammies - enjoying the quiet. I hope I don't get picked up on my way home!!! I have reordered some software needed to help us finish the website - maybe we will get some kits and such on here soon - then you can shop in your jammies. My dog - Frank -is becoming a fixture around the shop - he loves all the attention he gets. I hope his being here doesn't offend anyone. I best be heading home - have a great weekend - Kaye

'Tis the season - we have been busy putting up our holiday decorations today - I know it's early but we are going to have an ad on the local TV station which has to filmed this week. So Christmas has arrived at the Rooster - but now it is done and that is a good thing! I even found a red metal tree - kind of funky - but way cute. I have been making some fun new wool ornaments from Under the Garden Moon - will get some kits made up. If you haven't done any of the wool applique, this would be a fun place to start. A quick whip stitch is all you need to do and then you can embellish them to create something uniquely yours. So I am headed home after a long day - hope all is well with everyone and you are getting some time to sew. ttfn, Kaye

Back from retreat

Greetings - we all had a wonderful time at our store retreat. What a treat it is to spend time with friends that all love doing the same thing - sewing, laughing and eating wonderful food. I am so grateful for the time we shared.
We have some fun new products at the shop - "Artgirlz" have some great little kits to make fun wool cone dolls -witch pins - Christmas tree and snow people. The kits come with charms, wool balls, beads and yarns to create these fun decorative times. As soon as the software comes for me to upload my own pictures I will be able to put them on the web site. For now, you will just need to stop in to see how cute they are. (the web site is still being worked on - but isn't is great so far!) While you are here you can enjoy the trunk show for this month - quilts made by our friend Jean Stewart from Mendon Utah. She makes quilts of all styles, and they are wonderful. Our November trunk show will be by Kim Williams from Smithfield Ut. I am anxious to see what she is going to share with us. We will also have the trunk show from HQNA Winterfest from Dec. 6 to Dec 20. Check out their website - www.hqnawinterfest.com for more information about this great event. I must get to work now - happy sewing, Kaye

Friday - yea!

Good Morning - I had a great time teaching this past Tuesday at Bear Lake at a quilt guild meeting. What a great group of ladies. We made yo-yo's and then we started a wool penny rug candle mat. They got to go home with 2 unfinished projects! On Wednesday, members of the Wasatch Front Shop Hop gathered in Salt Lake for our first meeting of the new year. "All Around the Town" will be the theme for next year. It is going to be great hop. I really enjoy getting together with the other shop owners at these planning meetings. We all seem to be the same amount of crazy. My employees and I are headed to Bear Lake this weekend for our annual retreat. We didn't go last year - so we are really deserving of this getaway. Just a reminder - the shop is closing eary - 3 p.m. on Saturday and we will be closed on Monday. I hope this doesn't inconvience anyone.
A few new batiks arrived this week - they are beautiful. I haven't ever sewn with batiks but they are really starting to grow on me. Maybe next year! I had best get to work, Have a great weekend, Kaye

Good Morning - It is snowing in Cache Valley - oh my! My mother always told me "the older you get - the faster time flies". You are right again mom! How exciting is this new web site with blogging - I'm sure I'm going to love it! Well I am going to go open the doors and hope that people will leave the comfort of their worm and cozy homes and venture out into the cold. What ever you do today, have fun doing it. ttfn, Kaye
